Our Safety Results Speak For Themselves
McCarthy continues to set industry standards for our vigilant commitment to creating a safe workplace. The national Associated General Contractors (AGC) of America recently validated what we've known for some time. McCarthy's safety program is the finest in the construction industry.
McCarthy recently received the AGC's Construction Safety Excellence Award as the safest builder in America in the Building Division (for firms having more than one million manhours worked).
Perhaps it's because we're employee owned, but safety is the most important thing we do every day. We've made safety a key tenet of our company and take a decidedly proactive approach to it-including monitoring and tracking subcontractor safety performance (which very few companies in America do).
In 2008, McCarthy's lost-time incident rate was .17 and our recordable incident rate was 1.33 (the industry averages are 1.90 and 5.40, respectively).
Our safety performance is not a fluke. McCarthy has outperformed the industry by a wide margin in these key statistical areas for more than a decade and, as a result, has been repeatedly recognized on a national, regional and local basis for the firm's commitment to creating a safe workplace.
