A Training Culture

Building your future

One of McCarthy’s core values is Learning … which translates into a companywide focus on the importance of training and education.

While McCarthy has a staff of full-time trainers, the company distinguishes itself by emphasizing that EVERY employee is a trainer – from the CEO to the administration staff. The majority of this training is instructor-led – while McCarthy also offers significant self-study opportunities.

In 2005, McCarthy employees received a total of:

56,000 hours of training or 54 hours per employee

This level of training is far superior to the national average for construction companies.

Specific training opportunities available at McCarthy include:

Additionally, McCarthy has a proven history of promoting within. Only two of the company's senior management spots are held by employees who haven't spent their entire careers at McCarthy. In 2004, 124 employees (1 in every 9) were promoted.

In order to best serve the development needs of our employees, we rely on Chuck Avery, our Corporate VP of Training, with over 25 years of training experience.
