Totaling 114,000 sf, the $33 million facility houses 22,000 sf of wet and dry laboratory space (including 18 advanced technology labs), and 3,000 sf for vivariums. Clad in a "collegiate gothic" exterior featuring a granite/limestone facade and slate roofing, the structure also includes a 240-seat auditorium and 45 faculty and student offices.

Duffield Hall, a $43 million, 150,000 sf facility, will house a number of laboratories operated by Cornell's School of Engineering. The Cornell Nanofabrication Facility (CNF), a unique nanotechnology research lab partially supported by the National Science Foundation, seeks to advance and test new fabrication technologies used in the development of nanoscale microelectromechanical devices or MEMS. These technologies and devices could have a variety of uses in fiber optics, displays, sensors, and electronics.

The eleven-story, $132 million 370,000-square-foot structure will include Biosafety Level 2 and 3 laboratories with adjacent office areas, as well as an attached five-story facility to provide space for specialized BSL-4 functions, including analytical equipment labs, molecular biology suites and a central glass wash facility. Biosafety Level 4 labs are the highest-containment laboratories in existence, and the new Level 4 lab at the Emerging Infectious Disease Laboratory will double the CDC's existing Level 4 capacity.
