McCarthy first began building structures in San Francisco in 1908, with our California presence being formalized in 1984 when we opened our Newport Beach office. Our commitment to the Golden State has accelerated ever since with the addition of new regional offices in Sacramento (1991) and San Francisco (1995). To better serve our clients, fully developed Northern Pacific and Southern California Divisions were created in 1999. Most Recently, McCarthy opened a San Diego office to better serve this market.

Since 1984, McCarthy has completed more than $4 billion in work throughout the state. With over 50 office and 130 field professionals on staff, McCarthy's Southern California Division is currently involved in 38 projects (totaling over $1.1 billion) in various phases of preconstruction and construction.

What separates McCarthy from our competition in Southern California is our desire and ability to take on exceedingly complex projects that few, if any, could build and complete. Time after time. It happened at the Salk Institute when we created a non-patched architectural concrete that has the appearance of natural stone, and again at Arrowhead Regional Medical Center when we built California's first base-isolated hospital. It happens every day and that's why McCarthy is recognized as Southern California's premier builder of healthcare, research/laboratory, K-12 education and parking structure projects.
