High-Performance Buildings
While green and sustainable are industry buzzwords today, McCarthy's ultimate goal has always been to provide our clients with a High Performance Building that is:
- Effective for the business purposes that it serves
- Productive for the employees who utilize its spaces
- In harmony with the environment in which it stands
Constructing high-performance buildings is nothing new for McCarthy.
Throughout our history, we have consistently worked with our building team partners to create this result for interested clients, providing cost and constructability input in a project's early stages and developing relationships with specialty subcontractors to complete the construction. In recent years, this partnership has extended to working with the national United States Green Building Council to better define building guidelines and in some cases by striving to achieve Leadership in Energy and Environmental Design (LEED) certification for our projects with the assistance of our in-house LEED accredited professionals.
A recent comprehensive study by Capital E Group, Lawrence Berkeley Laboratory and participating California agencies confirms that building green provides financial benefits exceeding the costs by a factor of 10 to one. Helping interested clients achieve this cost savings, while both improving employee productivity and benefiting the environment, is what we have been doing for more than140 years.
