Best of Arizona

Lake Pleasant Waste Water Treatment FacilityLake Pleasant Water Treatment Plant – Phoenix, Arizona
$336 design/build/operate project, the largest of its kind in North America. The 80 million gallons per day plant encompasses 285 acres and provides enough water to supply 400,000 households through the latest in modern water treatment technology and automation, controlling taste and odor and eliminating harmful bacteria and other substances.

Hayden Ferry Lakeside Phase 2

Hayden Ferry Lakeside Phase 2 – Tempe, Arizona
$48 million, 300,000-square-foot, 12-story office tower and 156-car garage. Currently, the tallest building in Tempe, the project was constructed on top of a fully operational garage and office campus. The foundation of the building is supported by 100 caissons drilled three feet into bedrock and through 10 to 15 feet of groundwater.

College of San Mateo Science Building & PlanetariumCollege of San Mateo Science Building & Planetarium – San Mateo, California
$24 million, 62,000-square-foot, 3-story project was one of five community college facility construction projects permitted under a state design/build pilot program. The facility features a planetarium and observatory with a retractable roof for several fixed telescopes and houses lecture halls, offices and laboratories.

St. Joseph Hospital Patient Care Center

St. Joseph Hospital Patient Care Center – Orange, California
$130 million, 248-000-square-foot, 4-level hospital kicked off the hospital’s master facility plan and stands as a model for future construction on the 75-year-old campus. The facility houses a new hospital main entrance and lobby, 150 patient rooms, 14 operating suites and a central sterile and supply suite. McCarthy also built a 13,000-square-foot freestanding central plant.

University of California, San Diego Student Academic Services Building

University of California, San Diego Student Academic Services Building – San Diego, California
$32 million, 141,000-square-foot, 5-story concrete and structural steel hybrid building. The facility has set the bar for sustainable design and architectural concrete work among new higher education buildings. The L-shaped facility houses multiple departments including the Registrar, Financial Aid, Graduate Studies and Admissions. The facility also includes a 300-seat multipurpose room, two restaurants and retail space.

Burkholder Middle School

Burkholder Middle School – Henderson, Nevada
$36 million replacement project of Lyal Burkholder Middle School in Henderson, Nevada. Formerly the site of Basic High School, the new 128,000-square-foot school features five new buildings in addition to the renovation of the original brick gymnasium structure from Basic High.
