Scheduled to be completed in time for the beginning of the holiday shopping season, the 376,444-square-foot Fashion Island parking structure will be built in six months.

“That’s easily the shortest schedule we’ve ever faced for a structure of this size,” said McCarthy’s Al Carroll. “A great team and a great plan are required, and we’re confident we have both.” Obstacles for the 3-level, 1,081-space project include limited site access and the need to minimize impact to the world-class shopping and dining establishments immediately surrounding the project. “A major focus of our plan is to carefully build in such a way that our efforts are barely noticeable to the public”, said Carroll. Part of McCarthy’s plan is building the structure in two phases to overcome the site’s logistical challenges. McCarthy is currently building 22 parking structures in Southern California, and is also working on The Irvine Company’s Irvine Spectrum Center office and parking complex.
