“McCarthy was the only firm interviewed who was confident in their ability to have the building ready for the first day of school. They met their commitments and exceeded our expectations.”
—Dr. Bernard DuBray, superintendent, Fort Zumwalt School District

Fort Zumwalt

Seven hundred freshman and sophomores in the Fort Zumwalt School District started their 07-08 school year in a new, 220,000-square-foot, 5-story high school.

Over the next two years, East High School will add a junior and senior class, peaking at 1,500 students. The school features a high-tech security system and distance learning labs. Athletic fields sport synthetic turf in a lighted stadium complete with tennis courts, ball fields and a state-of-the-art solid rubber surface running track. From start to finish, McCarthy completed the $36 million facility in 15 months. Careful scheduling enabled construction to continue despite the stretches of inclement weather that challenged the project. Architect: Cannon Design, St. Louis.
