Crews in Las Vegas build a Friendship Garden as part of the Focus School Project
McCarthy recently completed construction on four new flower and vegetable garden planters for the pre-kinder and kindergarten classes at Paradise Professional Development Elementary School.
“Our goal is to continue to maintaining an ongoing relationship of support with Paradise Elementary students and faculty”, said Karie Lawson, McCarthy Heart Hats Committee Chair. “We hope the new garden serves as an outdoor classroom that allows the students the opportunity to experience the joy of planting and watching their garden grow.”
Paradise Elementary, located on the University of Nevada, Las Vegas campus, is one of several schools participating in the Clark County Focus School Project, a program that partners local schools with business, organizations, agencies, and individuals to bring needed resources to students.
This garden project is just one opportunity where McCarthy has been able to lend their talents since forming the partnership with the at-risk elementary school in September 2007.
