“The project team brought professionalism, depth and knowledge to the table, and they intimately understood the building challenges of a project of this nature.”
—Tom O’Leary, senior construction project manager, Sutter Health
McCarthy recently completed the Sutter Community Garage, a 333,000-square-foot, nine-story, mixed-use parking structure located in downtown Sacramento, which will accommodate the expanding parking needs of the surrounding community.
The structure is adjacent to Sutter General Hospital, a church and a residential neighborhood, and is also situated near many offices, restaurants and retail outlets. The garage boasts 1,100 parking spaces, four elevators and 9,000 square feet of ground-level retail space. Its entrances feature hand-crafted and intricate metal screen panels designed by local artist, Keith Peschel. These screens are incorporated into the walls to create an avant-garde look. In addition to the unique design elements, McCarthy constructed this project using the design-build delivery method and self-performed the concrete on the entire facility.
