A few years ago one of our long-time McCarthy employees was stricken with Multiple Sclerosis. In true McCarthy spirit, employees decided to make a difference by taking part in MS150 bike rides across the country. Ride for Ray has become an annual event for all McCarthy offices across the country – the ride teams are nicknamed the Hammerheads.
On a typically Hot-lanta day, the Hammerheads all took different routes on the first day. Their options were 35, 60 or 100 miles.
Kevin Kuntz, Gary McGrath, Michelle Kidd, Leslie Line and Christy Hasty all did 35 miles.
Kevin O’Keefe, Anthony Gorzelnik and Scott Metke tried for the Century but the intensity of the heat and EXTREMELY steep inclines got the best of them. However, Alex Herr was our Century Man; he did the whole 100 miles, riding from 8:30am to 6pm!
On the second day the options were 26 or 60 miles, everyone opted for the 26 except for a few that left the night before. Everyone did their best and most importantly HAD FUN!
All reports from Atlanta say their MS Ride for Ray was a Success! With four of our team members placing in the top 100 Georgia fund raisers, they raised nearly $20,000 for this cause which is near and dear to all of us at McCarthy.
