McCarthy Heart Hats, the community involvement arm of McCarthy Building Companies, Inc., is seeking non-profit applicants to receive the proceeds from its annual golf Southwest tournament, which will be hosted on December 10, 2010 at We-Ko-Pa Golf Club in Fort McDowell, Arizona.

This year, the McCarthy Heart Hats Golf Tournament proceeds will be dedicated to those non-profits that support children and families experiencing dramatic economic need and active duty military organizations. More than one organization may be selected as a recipient. Maricopa County 501(c)3 non-profit organizations are invited to apply for the funds now until October 1, 2010 by completing our form at: McCarthy Southwest Heart Hat Grant Application

The McCarthy Heart Hats community outreach program is dedicated to ensuring real community needs are being met through hands-on activities and financial support. Last year alone, more than $1 million in financial support, in-kind and hands-on building contributions were made through McCarthy’s Heart Hats program. Prior recipients of Heart Hats grants include Habitat for Humanity Central Arizona, Andrea’s Closet, the Salute a Soldier Foundation, Gabriel’s Angels, Tempe/Kyrene Communities in Schools and Crisis Nursery.

“We are continually looking for ways to have a positive impact on our community and this event allows us to support organizations that specialize in providing critical services to children and military veterans,” said Bo Calbert, president of McCarthy’s Southwest Region. “We feel privileged to be able to give back, especially in these difficult economic times.”

The McCarthy Heart Hats community outreach program is dedicated to encouraging, supporting and recognizing McCarthy employees’ volunteer efforts in a variety of causes to ensure real needs are being met in communities where employees live, work, and play. McCarthy employees are as passionate about building better communities, as they are about construction. In addition to the annual McCarthy Heart Hats golf tournament, McCarthy employees are also encouraged to take part in community outreach individually and through company-sponsored activities, including a company-wide paid volunteer day.
