McCarthy was recently awarded The University of Texas MD Anderson Children’s Cancer Hospital renovation in Houston. The renovation will be on the Floor 9 of the Alkek Tower where McCarthy originally completed the award-winning, 12-story vertical expansion, and is currently working on an infrastructure upgrade.
“We are proud to be working on another healthcare project in Houston, and we are happy our hard work has effectively demonstrated our abilities in this sector,” said McCarthy Project Director Ben Johanneman. “The knowledge and experiences drawn from the construction of the Alkek Tower will be a huge advantage during this project, and we plan to use the same organization and attention to detail executed in the previous project for the children’s hospital.”
In addition to the MD Anderson Floor 9 renovation, McCarthy completed the award-winning MD Anderson Cancer Center Alkek Hospital expansion in early 2011. The 12-story vertical expansion was one of the firm’s most challenging healthcare projects to date, and it finished ahead of schedule and on budget. The project added five inpatient floors, three shell floors, a pharmacy, facilities floor, mechanical floor and an observation deck all while building on top of the fully operational hospital.
Construction of the Children’s Cancer Hospital renovation project began in June.
