Yuma Regional Medical Center (YRMC) in Yuma Ariz., recently began developing space that will add an additional 36 inpatient beds. This will increase YRMC’s current 333-bed capacity to 369 beds. Construction on the new $230 million East Tower at Children’s Hospital Colorado (www.childrenscolorado.org) in Aurora, Colo., reached a notable milestone this week with the topping out of the 10-story structure. The expansion is being constructed by the joint venture team of McCarthy Building Companies, Inc. and Gerald H. Phipps, in conjunction with design partners H+L Architecture and ZGF Architects LLP under an Integrated Project Delivery (IPD) tri-party agreement.

McCarthy Wins Bid for Winn Army Hospital Renovation
The Southeast Division of McCarthy announces the firm’s selection as Construction Manager by The U.S. Army Corps of Engineers, Savannah District (www.sas.usace.army.mil) for the Winn Army Hospital renovation project in Fort Stewart, Ga. Construction on the $23 million fixed-price contract is slated to start July 2011, adding to the firm’s regional federal project portfolio that also includes the Oak Ridge National Laboratory in Oak Ridge, Tenn. The Winn Army Hospital serves soldiers and their family members, veterans and retirees.

Design-Build Team Selected for Phase 2 of Stockton Health Care Facility
The California Department of Corrections and Rehabilitation (CDCR) and California Prison Health Care Services (CPHCS) recently announced that McCarthy, in joint venture with Clark Construction Group—California, LP, and in association with HDR Architecture, has been selected as the successful design-build entity for the second phase of the California Health Care Facility (CHCF) Stockton. Regional offices of Clark and McCarthy, located in Oakland and San Francisco, respectively, will lead the project team. Combined, the two companies have operated offices in California for more than 50 years and completed nearly $2 billion of work in the state last year.
