McCarthy Building Companies, Inc. Breaks Ground on Solar Energy Research Center in Berkeley
McCarthy broke ground on the Solar Energy Research Center (SERC) for the Lawrence Berkeley National Laboratory (Berkeley Lab). The three-story, 40,000-square-foot facility will be devoted to researching and developing transportation fuels from sunlight using nano-scale photovoltaic and electrochemical solar energy systems.

Student Activities and Athletics Center is First Design-Build Project at UC Merced
McCarthy recently completed the Student Activities and Athletics Center at the University of California, Merced (“UC Merced”). The new facility, which opened on Aug. 24, will increase the campus’ recreation space by nearly 70 percent and will seek LEED Platinum certification from the U.S. Green Building Council.
