Palm Springs Unified School District’s Newest Middle School Relieves Overcrowding

McCarthy, one of Southern California’s preeminent builders specializing in educational facilities, recently completed construction on the new Palm Springs Unified School District’s (PSUSD) Painted Hills Middle School. The school opened to approximately 800 students and 35 faculty members on August 22, 2011.

Painted Hills Middle School is located on a 22-acre site at 9250 Sonora Drive in Desert Hot Springs. The school is the fifth middle school in the district and is the first middle school to be constructed since James Workman Middle School opened in 1995. A part of the Measure T bond, the middle school was built to relieve overcrowding at Desert Springs Middle School.

McCarthy “Heart Hats” Put Military Veterans First

As the 10-year anniversary of the war in Afghanistan and Iraq approaches, thoughts turn to men and women who have risked their lives and left their families at home to serve and protect all of our families. The McCarthy Heart Hats volunteers in Newport Beach, Calif., McCarthy’s employee volunteer group, have been reaching out to help military personnel and their families over the last several years through clothing and holiday toy drives as well as other service activities. After learning more about the plight of homeless and disabled veterans in Orange County, they wanted to do even more to help these forgotten and neglected heroes who have found themselves on hard times.

McCarthy to Begin Major Structural Work on Torrance Memorial Medical Center Replacement Tower

McCarthy Building Companies, Inc., one of the premier hospital building contractors in the U.S., is constructing the $300 million Torrance Memorial Medical Center Replacement Tower on the existing medical center site at 3330 Lomita Boulevard. Excavation and shoring for the new construction is nearly complete as the tower’s structural steel is scheduled to begin in October 2011.
