McCarthy Heart Hats, the community involvement arm of McCarthy Building Companies Inc., has begun its annual submission process for nonprofit organizations to apply for financial grants and/or a hands-on community building project in Arizona. Applications are due by 5 pm on Friday, June 14, 2013.
A team of Colorado businesses joined local officials last week to break ground on a new $125 million water treatment plant in El Paso County as part of the Southern Delivery System (SDS) water project. Construction of the new plant is providing significant work for area businesses that participated in a shovel ceremony to mark the start of construction on the single largest SDS component. The water treatment plant will treat up to 50 million gallons of water per day upon the project’s completion in 2016.

McCarthy, one of the nation’s oldest and largest privately-held construction companies and a 100 percent employee-owned business, was honored Monday night with a 2013 Training Magazine Top 125 Award. This recognition represents the third year in a row McCarthy has received this award and the second consecutive year for the firm ranking in the top 10.
