McCarthy Selected to Rebuild Mercy Hospital in Tornado-Devastated Joplin
Mercy has selected McCarthy to serve as construction manager for a new 825,000-square-foot hospital in Joplin, Mo. to replace the former St. John’s Mercy Regional Medical Center demolished in the May 22, EF-5 tornado. The deadliest tornado in Missouri and the U.S since 1947 directly hit the hospital.

McCarthy Tops Out on R&D Facility at Oak Ridge National Laboratory
McCarthy, one of the nation’s leading science and technology builders, recently topped out on construction of the new Maximum Building Energy Efficiency Research Lab (MAXLAB) at the Oak Ridge National Laboratory (ORNL) in Tennessee. The $11.8 million, 16,600-square-foot facility will be devoted to the research and development of energy-efficient building products, including HVAC and exterior building envelope materials, components and systems. This project follows McCarthy’s construction of the Chemical and Materials Sciences Building completed this past summer. The ORNL campus is managed by UT-Battelle for the U.S. Department of Energy.

McCarthy Awarded Additional Work for Good Samaritan Health Center in Mount Vernon, Ill.
McCarthy was awarded an additional $9.8 million work in the Frauenshuh Medical Office Building for Good Samaritan Regional Health Center in Mount Vernon, Ill. The new contract includes 70,000 square feet of fit out, including Garden, Level 1 and Level 3 of the 141,000-square-foot building. The medical office building is connected to the hospital and includes a surgery center, laboratories, rehabilitation suite, exam rooms and outpatient diagnostic services.
