Architect/Engineer Charity Softball Tournament Raises Dollars for St. Louis Organizations
McCarthy and MC Industrial, an independent McCarthy company, recently teamed up once again to host the 15th Annual Architect/Engineer Charity Softball Tournament. As per the tradition, all proceeds from the event are donated to a St. Louis charity of the tournament winner’s choosing. This year the tournament raised $6,500 for charity. Since the tournament began in 1996, the event has generated more than $80,000 for area charities.

McCarthy Completes Oak Ridge National Laboratory Facility to House Breakthrough Energy Research
McCarthy, one of the nation’s leading science and technology builders, recently completed the new $95 million (total project cost), state-of-the-art Chemical and Materials Sciences Building for the U.S. Department of Energy’s Oak Ridge National Laboratory (ORNL). William Brinkman, director of the U.S. Department of Energy (DOE) Office of Science, joined officials from DOE and Oak Ridge National Laboratory last week to dedicate the new facility.
Team on Children’s Hospital Colorado Expansion Using Cutting-Edge Technology Tools to Keep Project on the Fast Track
Construction on the new $230 million East Tower at Children’s Hospital Colorado (www.childrenscolorado.org) in Aurora, Colo., reached a notable milestone this week with the topping out of the 10-story structure. The expansion is being constructed by the joint venture team of McCarthy Building Companies, Inc. and Gerald H. Phipps, in conjunction with design partners H+L Architecture and ZGF Architects LLP under an Integrated Project Delivery (IPD) tri-party agreement.

McCarthy Completes Loop Road and Parking Structure for Edward Jones
McCarthy completes the last 3,000 feet of Edward Jones Blvd. and a 1,515-space parking garage for Edward Jones – North Campus in St. Louis this month. The $22 million parking garage is the third and largest parking structure built so far by McCarthy for Edward Jones. The seven-story, architectural precast concrete structure includes three stair towers and two elevators. This phase of the road project completes the loop, connecting Edward Jones Blvd. to Investment Drive on the north end and Progress Parkway on the south end, which is located near the intersection of Interstate 270 and Dorsett Road.
