The School District of University City hosted a ribbon cutting ceremony for the new Barbara C. Jordan Elementary School building located at 1500 N. 82nd Boulevard in University City, Mo., on Saturday, April 30. Funded through Proposition U, a $53.6 million bond issue passed in April 2009, the two-story, 60,000-square-foot building has 24 classrooms capable of accommodating up to 500 students, including specialized classrooms and specialty spaces that will enable students to do more exploratory work.

Official Grand Opening Celebrated for Mercy Children’s Hospital in St. Louis
McCarthy has completed construction of a seven-level, 379,000-square-foot patient tower at St. John’s Mercy Medical Center in Creve Coeur, Mo. The tower is the new location for Mercy Children’s Hospital. McCarthy led preconstruction services, served as construction manager and self-performed several aspects of the 44-month project, including concrete, steel and carpentry work. Supporters of Mercy Children’s Hospital gathered for a dedication ceremony marking the official grand opening on Thursday, Feb. 24.
