Community leaders, city officials and neighborhood residents inaugurated the opening of a new tot lot at Mosswood Park in Oakland, Calif., during a ribbon cutting ceremony on Aug. 26, the same day that 220 volunteers
participated in the annual Mosswood Park volunteer cleanup event.
The tot lot, near the newly refurbished basketball courts, is the latest sign of the urban park’s steady transformation. Under the firm’s “Heart Hats” volunteer program, McCarthy led the tot lot’s construction efforts as part of an on-going collaborative Mosswood Park renovation and beautification initiative between Kaiser Permanente, McCarthy, the City of Oakland and neighborhood residents. Mosswood Park is adjacent to Kaiser Permanente’s future Oakland Medical Center, on which McCarthy serves as the project’s general contractor.
