LAC + USC Medical Center Replacement Facility Opens its Doors

Los Angeles County + USC Medical Center (LAC+USC) has opened the doors to its new, state-of-the-art facility. The more than $600 million (construction cost) medical center, built by construction joint venture McCarthy-Clark-Hunt (MCH), includes a seven-story clinic tower, eight-story inpatient tower, five-story diagnostic and treatment building, and a central energy plant. The 600-bed, 1.5 million square-foot medical facility allows LAC+USC to better meet the needs of the Los Angeles community and has been hailed as a positive advancement in meeting urban healthcare challenges.

Dallas City Performance Hall Will be Third Project for McCarthy in the Dallas Arts District

The Dallas City Performance Hall, a 124,000-square-foot multi-phase theatre facility, will be McCarthy’s next construction undertaking in the Dallas Arts District.  During phase one of construction, 45,000 square-feet will be completed.  The City Performance Hall is on track to be the first LEED Silver rated performing arts facility in Texas under the United States Green Building Council and will provide a new state-of-the-art home for small and medium arts groups reflecting the diverse communities of Dallas.

Phoenix Water Treatment Plant Earns National Design-Build Award

The Lake Pleasant Water Treatment Plant in Phoenix, completed by the design/build team McCarthy and of Black & Veatch recently earned the 2008 National Design-Build Award from the Design-Build Institute of America (DBIA) in the “water/wastewater over $15 million” category.

Kids Come Together with McCarthy Construction Crew to “Color Their World” at Rady Children’s Hospital-San Diego

Color Our World 1Armed with hope, imagination and crayons, around 25 young patients of Rady Children’s Hospital-San Diego gathered recently to colorize a 4-foot x 8-foot mural depicting a child’s cartoon version of the new $260 million Patient Care Pavilion, currently under construction by McCarthy.
