Safety Performance

McCarthy recently received the AGC's Construction Safety Excellence Award as the safest builder in America in the Building Division (for firms having more than one million manhours worked).

Safety Works

Perhaps it's because we're employee owned, but safety is the most important thing we do every day. We've made safety a key tenet of our company and take a decidedly proactive approach to it-including monitoring and tracking subcontractor safety performance (which very few companies in America do).

Our proactive approach to safety has resulted in McCarthy achieving a safety record far above the industry average:

  • 2012 lost-time incident rate: 0.18 (1.50 national average)
  • 2012 Recordable incident rate: 0.95 (3.99 national average)
