Building Information Modeling (BIM) and Virtual Design and Construction (VDC) are services that almost all general contractors now provide as part of executing their work for an owner. In the past, the focus of these services has been on the creation of a model by the general contractor and subcontractors to help the coordinate their work. However, this model-centric view misses the true value BIM/VDC can bring to a project – improved collaboration, certainty of schedule and budget, and better solutions for the owner.
