Keeping Our Employees Safe

UNION AND OPEN SHOP

To ensure the health and safety of our employees, McCarthy has implemented COVID-19 requirements that include the wearing of face coverings, social distancing measures, hygienic practices and following the necessary CDC guidance for contact tracing and quarantining. Implementing these measures for our valued employees is absolutely the right thing to do. We will also be doing the following:

  • Continue to communicate the most updated recommendations from the Centers for Disease Control (CDC) and be guided by their recommendations.
  • Enable employees who are sick or those at very high risk to stay home/self-quarantine. Please stay in contact with your supervisor in those situations. Again, if you are sick, please stay home and follow the directions below.
  • Work to reduce the number of staff in close contact with each other, particularly individuals at increased risk of severe illness.
  • Implement social distancing measures:
    • Increasing physical space between workers (recommended six feet)
    • Staggering work schedules as possible
    • Decreasing social contact in the workplace (e.g., limit in-person meetings, meeting for lunch in a break room, etc.)
    • Limit large work-related gatherings (e.g., staff meetings, large group functions, etc.)

We will continue to adjust to meet the needs of each jobsite.

Please refer to your site-specific safety plan and local regulations for more detail.

Employees who did not have COVID-19 symptoms but tested positive and have stayed home (home isolated):

The employee can end isolation after these two things have happened:

  • At least 10 days have passed since the date of their first positive test AND
  • They continue to have no symptoms (no cough or shortness of breath) since the test.

Employee has close contact with a test-positive COVID-19 individual:

For employees who have come into close contact with a confirmed-positive individual he/she must alert a manager or supervisor of the close contact and will be instructed to self-quarantine for 14 days. The other alternative options that will be provided in lieu of the 14-day quarantine are the following:

  • Option 1 — An employee’s quarantine can end after day 10 without testing if no symptoms have been reported during daily monitoring. The employee must watch for symptoms until 14 days after exposure.
  • Option 2 — When diagnostic testing resources are sufficient and available, then quarantine can end after day 7 if a diagnostic specimen tests negative and if no symptoms were reported during daily monitoring. The specimen may be collected and tested within 48 hours (at least 5 days after exposure) before the time of planned quarantine discontinuation, but quarantine cannot be discontinued earlier than after day 7. The employee must watch for symptoms until 14 days after exposure.

McCarthy will adhere to all state-mandates for paid time off benefits related to COVID-19. Refer to the State-Specific Information for applicable regulations and benefits.
