This design-build, fast track facility is a 70,000-square foot automotive training center located in West Georgia. The training center was constructed for the Georgia State Financing and Investment Commission as an incentive to bring KIA Automotive to West Georgia to build an automotive plant.
This aggressive project was designed and constructed in less than 11 months. The training center is unique in that it has multiple uses under the one roof, including robotics, electronics, and welding laboratories, high bays, research areas and food preparation areas. The facility also houses equipment for training on state-of-the-art programmable logic controllers (PLCs).
The facility is mainly a single-story building with multiple elevations as the foundation was stepped to match existing grade. There is approximately 20,500-square feet located on elevated decks.
McCarthy’s national expertise in educational and research laboratory construction, along with manufacturing process knowledge enabled the team to stay on schedule and within budget on this aggressive project.
This center is much more than a just a building – it’s a major step on the journey to a successful company and thousands of secure jobs our citizens can count on.
