Creating Upscale Spaces

Luxurious Expansion Projects Recently Completed at Wynn Las Vegas and Encore

McCarthy’s gaming team has been busy over the past year at the Wynn Las Vegas and Encore as they wrapped construction on three simultaneous casino expansion projects. Crews worked diligently, fast-tracking each project to minimize disruption to hotel guests and create new excitement at one of the most luxurious hotel properties in the world.

“McCarthy understands the importance of quickly creating usable and functioning spaces for the hotel and its guests,” explains Paul Yeomans, director of gaming and hospitality for McCarthy. “Each of these projects required our team to remain on an aggressive schedule while maintaining the highest level of quality. These builders did an exceptional job with preplanning and in the execution of these projects with an emphasis on delivering some very detailed high-end finishes.”

Among the expansion projects, McCarthy successfully converted the Blush Lounge into a high-limit gaming salon, featuring new, state-of-the-art video gaming walls and an elegant interior design among the most glamorous in Las Vegas. The 4,500-square-foot project required the team to demolish and rebuild the interior and exterior of the lounge and provide new high-end finishes, including upgrades to the outside patio and water feature. A 350-ton crane was used to place three, 21,000-pound pine trees around the site and required the team to maneuver through a very tight area. Each time they placed a tree, they had to temporarily shut down the adjacent valet and casino entrance.

Yeomans continued, “Working around an operating casino can be challenging enough, but this team had to act fast and safely to ensure minimal disruptions to the day-to-day operations of the casino. They did a phenomenal job setting these 40-foot trees by coordinating with the property to clear the valet of both cars and guests while the truck maneuvered in.”

Additionally, McCarthy added queuing areas for XS Nightclub at Encore and is constructing a new corporate office building. To create the new XS space, the project team had to demolish four high-end retail spaces and make modifications to the nightclub bar service. The new queuing spaces include finishes such as revolving doors, louvered Panda doors, coffered ceilings, stone flooring, custom light fixtures and decorations. The new 34,000-square-foot flex office building is located near the employee parking structure. The shelled office space project is being constructed using structural steel framing and EIFS.

As one of the nation’s top builders, McCarthy has continued to build upon the firm’s successful track record with hospitality, gaming and entertainment projects. McCarthy has previously completed several other special projects for Wynn Las Vegas and Encore, including the Wynn hotel room remodel, building settlement repair and cabana remodel.

“What is impressive about our gaming and hospitality team is that we have been awarded several projects based on past successful performance and value. This speaks volumes to our capabilities, experience and expertise,” adds Yeomans.
