McCarthy is a 2017 Kansas City Healthiest Employer
Kansas City Business Journal
The Kansas City Business Journal recently recognized McCarthy as one of the Healthiest Employers in the area.
The award celebrates companies that emphasize and prioritize fitness and healthcare. This year, 22 companies were honored based on wellness programming and benefits, and McCarthy was an honoree among companies with 1,500 - 4,999 employees.
To identify the 2017 honorees, Healthiest Employers LLC, a data and research company, measured health and wellness factors using the Springbuk analytics platform. The assessment scored organizations on the wellness program’s culture and leadership commitment, foundational components, strategic planning, communication and marketing, programming and interventions, and reporting and analysis. Competing employers were split into categories by global workforce size. Each required at least five local employees to be eligible.
In 2010, McCarthy solidified its commitment to wellness by creating a formal program — Build for Life. The comprehensive program offers lifestyle coaching initiatives, health screenings, gym membership reimbursements and up to $800 in healthcare premium reductions.
“As an employee-owned firm, McCarthy’s strong commitment to wellness is ingrained in our culture,” said Kansas City Director, Barry Sutherland. “Our health and wellness program is successful because employees have buy-in and see tangible benefits. We support the program through integrated resources to ensure our employees and their families have access to care, tools, programs and incentives that enable them to live their healthiest.”
McCarthy’s Kansas City office was a 2016 Healthiest Employers honoree, and joins several offices across the country to be selected Healthiest Employers, including Dallas, Houston, St. Louis and Sacramento, among others.
