McCarthy Completes Savor and Relish Eateries at Klyde Warren Park

McCarthy, a Texas builder for 34 years, recently completed Savor and Relish eateries at Dallas’ Klyde Warren Park. The pavilion-style space, housing gastropub Savor and snack bar Relish, designed by architect Thomas Phifer, was built under one roofline on the north end of the park, above Woodall Rodgers Freeway in downtown Dallas.

The finished project features large canopies that allow for more than 3,000 square feet of seating on the exterior of the building, which is enveloped by a glass curtain wall system, for Savor patrons. An additional 2,000 square feet of exterior space is designated for diners enjoying Relish and its mirror-finished stainless steel skin. The collaborative space is designed to accommodate approximately 325 people – 175 inside and 150 outside.

“McCarthy is proud to have been a part of bringing this unique and innovative dining concept to life right here in Klyde Warren Park,” said Mike McWay, McCarthy’s Texas regional president. “Our team has worked continuously to ensure Savor and Relish diners enjoy a one-of-a-kind, world-class facility to accompany the excellent food and desirable Arts District location the establishment provides.”

The interior of Savor, designed by Bill Johnson of The Johnson Studios, features a centrally located “kitchen core,” surrounded by seating areas and a bar. This core is wrapped in authentic white oak wood panels that provide a clean contrast to nearby marble walls and shelves. The kidney-shaped bar is illuminated by custom radius glass and LED lighting. Additionally, the ceiling and soffit system of the establishment, designed by Phifer, are made from custom metal panels, each highly individualized and designed to resemble a tree.

The completion of the two eateries is considered to be one of the finishing touches on the landscape of Klyde Warren Park, which was also completed by McCarthy in October 2012. The park connects Uptown and downtown Dallas and includes a performance stage, great lawn area, dog park, children’s park, botanical gardens, water features and multiple green areas with open space for visitors.

In addition to Savor and Relish and Klyde Warren Park, some of McCarthy’s other notable Dallas Arts District projects include the Dallas City Performance Hall, a 124,000-square-foot multi-phase theatre facility with an intricate concrete design and the AT&T Performing Arts Center Dee and Charles Wyly Theatre, a unique 80,300-square-foot multi-form theatre facility. With the recent completion of several high-profile, award-winning projects, McCarthy continues to be one of Dallas’ most sought-after builders.
