McCarthy Constructing New Facility for Texas Children’s Hospital
McCarthy’s Specialized Solutions Group has begun construction for a new state-of-the-art facility for Texas Children’s Hospital that will house the new Pediatric and RPCG Clinic for Texas Children’s, offering world-class pediatric and primary care to children and families. Construction of the Pediatric Cullen and Residents’ Primary Care Group (RPCG) Clinic began on May 10.
The scope of work includes a nonstructural demolition of existing interior space and build back of a new 20,000-square-foot facility. When completed in Nov. 2016, the building will include a new waiting area, exam rooms, nurses’ stations, several administrative offices, staff lounge, storage, nurses’ lounge, future radiology and ultrasound space, and work room.
Led by McCarthy Senior Project Manager Preston Hodges and Project Superintendent Mike Kacal, the Houston-based Specialized Solutions Group concentrates on unique healthcare, laboratory, and higher education interior renovation projects. The group targets higher education and healthcare clients within a 3- to 5-mile radius of the Texas Medical Center, the largest medical center in the world.
“We are honored to continue working with one of the most respected healthcare organizations in the country,” said Jim Stevenson, McCarthy Houston Division President. “With our expertise in healthcare construction and extensive work within the Texas Medical Center, we are confident in our ability to meet the unique project needs for this facility, enabling Texas Children’s to provide even more families with a healthier future.”
Texas Children’s, currently ranked fourth in the nation by U.S. News & World Report for Best Children’s Hospitals, is widely recognized for its expertise in patient care, education and research for pediatric and women’s health.
This will be McCarthy’s second clinic project for Texas Children’s in Houston, following the Texas Children’s Health Plan Center for Children and Women Southwest completed in September 2014. In addition to Texas Children’s, other Specialized Solutions Group projects include work for Baylor College of Medicine, Houston Methodist Hospital and CHI/St. Luke’s.
As one of the nation’s most trusted builders and a 2016 top 10 Houston-area commercial contractor, McCarthy’s extensive resume of healthcare, laboratory and higher education-related construction experience makes it ideally suited to take on projects of any size or complexity.
