McCarthy Donates to Saint Luke’s Hospital Kansas City NICU

McCarthy Presents Large $14,000 Check to St. Luke's Hospital

The Kansas City office of McCarthy donated $14,000 from its Second Annual Charity Golf Tourney to Saint Luke’s Foundation benefitting Saint Luke’s Hospital Kansas City Neonatal Intensive Care Unit (NICU). The donation, which McCarthy presented at the 9th annual Paint the Town event on September 23, 2017, will support medical and nursing education, research, charity care and medical programs. The unique golf tournament held at Topgolf Overland Park is part of the builder’s nationwide Heart Hats® community involvement program.

Saint Luke’s Neonatologist Dr. Barbara Carr attended the Topgolf event in May and provided a brief overview of how the proceeds will be used to support NICU services. Dr. Carr was also one of the Paint the Town event chairs who accepted the donation from McCarthy by saying, “We are honored that McCarthy chose Saint Luke’s Hospital’s Level IIIb Neonatal Intensive Care Unit as the beneficiary of its Topgolf tourney this year. Our NICU provides one of the highest levels of critical care to babies from across the region, and this generous donation from McCarthy and its partners supports the most vulnerable newborns and encourages the best possible outcomes.”

For McCarthy, building stronger communities goes beyond constructing spaces where people live, work and learn. Much of the company’s volunteering and charitable contributions are centered around organizations focused on children and families. Saint Luke’s Hospital NICU was selected as the primary recipient of this year’s golf tournament proceeds to help provide support for the NICU’s critical services that benefit many area families, including a local McCarthy family who received Level IIIb NICU care during the first few months of their newborn triplets’ lives.

“The talented nurses and doctors at Saint Luke’s hold a special place in our company’s heart,” said McCarthy Director Barry Sutherland. “We are grateful to our partners who generously raised funds to provide specialty services for babies and high-risk pregnancy patients in our community.”

Supporters of the 2017 McCarthy Charity Golf Tourney included Henderson Engineers, Area Real Estate Advisors, RS Electric, Smith & Boucher, The Waldinger Corporation, HDR, Wallace Engineering, HOK, U.S. Engineering, Image Flooring, P1 Group, Inc., Thornton Tomasetti, Performance Contracting, Inc., Flynn, CBRE, Central Bank of the Midwest and Alexander Mechanical.
