Constructech is part of a multi-media family of services that focuses on helping construction professionals understand infrastructure, the future of work and technology. The Constructech Women in Construction award recognizes the most successful women across the construction industry who take advantage of technology and represent the most innovative construction companies in the country.

Alexa Hartley, VDC Senior Engineer

Alexa Hartley leads and executes VDC implementation in support of estimating, preconstruction, operations and business development in the McCarthy Southern Region. Her primary areas of focus include leading concrete modeling, building systems coordination/MEP, mockups in virtual or augmented reality, preconstruction VDC training, and model-based quantification.

Hartley influences technology within McCarthy and across the industry by focusing on exceptional technology experiences for clients and partners on jobsites. With a higher level of acceptance, she challenges teams to adopt model-based layouts, reinforcing detailed planning and execution, increasing confidence in the plan and increasing project certainty.

“Alexa is a genuine partner to the VDC team, to the preconstruction and operations teams she works with, and to McCarthy as a whole,” commented Chris Patton, McCarthy senior VDC field manager. “She takes an innovative approach to everything she sets out to do, looking for ways to push the envelope in a mindful way.”

Ileana Holguin, Project Director

During her 20 years with McCarthy, Ileana Holguin has worked on a variety of successful healthcare, education, commercial and parking structure projects across the McCarthy Southern California Region. In her current role, Holguin’s leadership influences how technology is used and viewed on projects she oversees. She encourages her teams to experiment with new construction technology while looking for more efficient ways to complete their work.

Holguin was instrumental in the creation of McCarthy Construction 101, a unique interactive event for high school girls. Started in Southern California, participants spend a day at McCarthy’s local office and are introduced to different aspects of the construction industry, including utilizing technology such as augmented reality. This program is now being implemented across McCarthy in other regions.

Holguin also recently worked with safety apparel manufacturer ML Kishigo to make essential modifications to two popular construction vests to better fit women.

“Ileana is one of the hardest-working and dedicated professionals in the construction industry,” explained Lee Sudhoff, McCarthy vice president, operations. “She is all-in when it comes to technology and how it can support her partners and our clients.”

McCarthy congratulates all award winners for their willingness to go above and beyond while exhibiting strong dedication and commitment to technology in the construction industry.
