McCarthy Employees Claire Vorthmann and Kitty Lichtenstein Honored with 2021 Constructech Women in Construction Award

McCarthy Building Companies, Inc. is pleased to announce that Claire Vorthmann, project assistant manager and Kitty Lichtenstein, innovation manager, have received Constructech’s 2021 Women in Construction award.

Constructech is part of a multi-media family of services that focuses on helping construction professionals understand infrastructure, the future of work and technology. The Constructech Women in Construction award recognizes the most successful women across the construction industry who act as agents of change, taking advantage of technology and representing the most innovative construction companies in the country.

Claire Vorthmann, Project Assistant Manager

Claire Vorthmann manages field personnel and operations for the McCarthy Mapping service in McCarthy’s Central Region. McCarthy Mapping is McCarthy’s national subsurface utility mapping team. In her role, she oversees work performed by McCarthy Mapping teams to ensure all deliverables meet the client’s goals. She also assists with business development for McCarthy Mapping throughout the Central Region. 

Claire influences the role of technology within McCarthy and across the industry by constantly pushing the boundaries of the tools used as part of the McCarthy Mapping service. Claire believes in the value of adopting lean principles in her work and is an advocate for continuous improvement, encouraging those she works with to look for new opportunities to use new or existing technology to improve outcomes for clients and McCarthy. She is also known for her willingness to educate new employees, potential clients and current clients about the benefits of underground mapping services and the technology that makes it possible.

“As an extremely valuable member of the McCarthy Mapping team, Claire is passionate about mitigating subsurface utility risk throughout the project lifecycle,” said Jared Miller, McCarthy Mapping director of operations. “As a leader in her peer group and with her expertise as a lean professional, she values teamwork and pushes our team to operate more effectively and efficiently. Kitty Lichtenstein, Innovation Manager

Kitty Lichtenstein manages McCarthy’s innovation efforts, including strategic planning, projects and pilots throughout the company. Based in Phoenix, she works with internal and external partners across the country to foster an environment of ideas and innovation that generates impactful results for McCarthy and its clients. 

Kitty influences technology within McCarthy, and across the construction industry, by studying emerging trends, technologies and processes. She also is a strong advocate for testing and adoption of them across McCarthy projects and offices. She believes in promoting and empowering novel ideas, efforts and activities today that will improve results tomorrow. Her work also focuses on making it easy for everyone to share ideas, streamline systems for turning ideas into action, create environments that enable all McCarthy partners to engage in the innovation process and transform ideas into scalable tools and procedures to help clients, trade partners and McCarthy.

“Kitty has been an incredible addition to our innovation team, so it’s no surprise she’s been recognized by Constructech,” said Enrico Bertucci, McCarthy director of operations. “She has engaged across the board to support our teams to think outside the box.
