One of the dialogues following Hurricane Harvey has been surrounding the Category 4 hurricane's impact on construction costs.

Harvey will no doubt affect construction costs. Local business leaders point to the familiar pattern of natural disasters markedly affecting the costs of building materials. Things like drywall, insulation, electrical outlets, switches and plywood will be in short supply as Houstonians trudge through the years-long task of repairing the estimated 134,500 residences in the 10-county Houston area were either damaged or destroyed by Tropical Storm Harvey.
