Plano ISD Fine Arts Center
The Plano Independent School District Fine Arts Center is an 82,000-square-foot, free-standing educational facility on a 16-acre greenfield site. Major performance areas include a 1,500-seat multi-purpose performance hall with an upper balcony and lower level orchestra pit, 250-seat black box theater, a rehearsal studio for music and dance and visual art galleries. The project also includes a 628-space surface parking lot in addition to exterior gathering and performance spaces.
The main structure is being built using architectural concrete for long-term durability and to enhance performance spaces. McCarthy is installing large panels of concrete along the walls with unique angles and textures specifically designed to improve acoustics.
