VA Palo Alto Mental Health Facility

The VA Palo Alto Psychiatric Facility constructed by McCarthy's healthcare construction team is a new 90,655-sf, 80-bed Inpatient Mental Health Center for the Veterans Affairs Palo Alto Health Care System (VAPAHCS). The new center houses four units, each containing 20 inpatient beds.

Designed by the architecture firm, The Design Partnership LLP, the new facility includes administrative offices, a mental health research and office pavilion, and a utility complex to service the building. Unique features include patient access to enclosed, landscaped gardens, ample use of natural light to all internal patient and staff areas, and views to landscaped areas from all patient bedrooms. All colors, textures and material palettes were specifically selected to support the healing process. The center offers both private and semi-private rooms.

The project is being heralded by governmental figures, and groups that support veterans and professionals in the psychiatric and mental health field. All inpatient beds will operate in one facility. This important project for the VAPAHCS consolidates all of its inpatient facilities under one roof to better serve patients in need while providing a healing and therapeutic environment, offering veterans superior care and treatment.
