Mercy Breaks Ground on New Hospital and Medical Campus in Wentzville, Mo.
McCarthy Building Companies is managing construction of the state’s first brand-new, acute care hospital campus in nearly a decade.

Mercy, one of the 15 largest U.S. health systems, has broken ground on Mercy Hospital Wentzville, Missouri’s first brand-new, acute care hospital campus in nearly a decade.
McCarthy Building Companies is overseeing construction of the 400,000-sq.-ft. hospital, which is expected to include 75 inpatient acute care beds and a 26-bed emergency department with two trauma areas and four behavioral health rooms. The multi-million-dollar project will offer a broad range of inpatient and outpatient care to the region, including surgical and specialty options such as cardiovascular, cancer and orthopedics as well as outpatient imaging, diagnostic and treatment services.
Crews began preparing the site in late March and plan to begin work on the central utility plant this summer, with hospital tower work beginning in early 2026. Construction of the hospital is expected to be completed in four years.
“We’re honored to continue our long-term partnership with Mercy to expand world-class medical care in one of the state’s fastest-growing communities,” said [Mike Stapf, McCarthy vice president and St. Louis healthcare market leader]. “It’s a privilege to help bring Mercy’s transformative vision for health care in Wentzville and across the region to life.”
Other project partners include CannonDesign (architecture and design) and IMEG (engineering).
