Right-Sized by Design
At the Citizens Medical Center replacement hospital project in Colby, Kansas, Citizens Health, HFG Architecture and McCarthy Building Companies, Inc. came together to deliver a facility shaped by changing care needs, financial realities and long-term flexibility. The story also underscores a defining goal of the project: creating a hospital built for the future.
Through a fast-track, design-assist approach, the team was able to respond to funding requirements, navigate inflation and budget pressures and make strategic scope decisions that supported both cost control and operational efficiency. As McCarthy Project Manager Josh Jazwick noted, “Being able to plan our resources out and make sure we’re getting material set aside and qualified people on site when we need them meant none of that was going to be a sticking point later."
