Nayan Bhakta
President, Renewable Energy
Phoenix
As President of McCarthy’s National Renewable Energy group, Nayan Bhakta leads key business operations and national strategy for all renewable energy projects. A driving force behind continued growth and evolution of the Renewable Energy group, Nayan leverages his deep technical expertise and strategic vision to lead teams in our delivery of innovative solutions for clients nationwide, building on McCarthy’s position as a trusted partner in utility-scale solar and energy storage.
In his previous role as Chief Operating Officer of the Renewable Energy group, Nayan played a key role in scaling McCarthy’s renewable energy portfolio and strengthening the operational foundation that supported the group’s continued national growth.
Nayan joined McCarthy in December 2014 as a Preconstruction Manager before ultimately elevating to the Vice President of Preconstruction, supporting pursuit and preconstruction efforts for more than 5.6 GW of PV and BESS projects, including what was then the world’s largest energy storage project. He was instrumental in more than quadrupling the renewable group’s solar footprint in less than two years. Prior to McCarthy, he spent several years in multiple capacities with other renewable energy firms as well as worked domestically and internationally designing and constructing large petrochemical projects.
A champion of providing exceptional team member experiences, Nayan led the development of a customized onboarding program to help new team members transition smoothly to remote solar project locations – a model that has since influenced onboarding practices across McCarthy’s nationwide offices. He holds a bachelor’s degree in mechanical engineering from the University of Arizona.
