Benefits Eligibility
New hires and rehires are eligible to enroll in medical, dental and vision after completing 30 calendar days of continuous employment.
What you need to do to sign up or make changes to your benefits
The project administrator will provide instructions to access BenefitFocus, the benefits website and a benefit packet as well. These packets provide important information and deadlines for you to enroll in McCarthy’s benefits. However, you may enroll before your packet arrives if you wish.
- Enroll yourself and eligible dependents in medical, dental, and vision benefits. You have 30 calendar days from your benefits eligibility date to enroll in McCarthy benefits. You may enroll as soon as your information is available on the administration platform, which should occur several days following your hire date.
- Submit the required documents for your dependents. If you enroll dependents in a medical, dental, or vision plan, you must verify their eligibility. Once you finish enrolling, you will need to upload the documents into the same website to complete the Dependent Eligibility Verification Process. You will need to submit specific documents to verify each covered dependent’s eligibility within 30 days of your benefits eligibility date. If you don’t submit the requested information within 30 days, your dependents will be removed from coverage.
Acceptable Dependent Verification Documents
Children: Birth Certificate or most recent Tax Filing
Spouse: Marriage Certificate/License or most recent Tax Filing
Domestic Partner: Domestic Partner Affidavit provided by McCarthy (please reach out to benefits@mccarthy.com to request the affidavit) - Enroll in the 401(k) Savings Plan. You may enroll in the 401(k) Savings Plan as soon as your information is available in our system, which should occur several days following your hire date. If no action is taken, you will be automatically enrolled in the plan at 6% contribution rate about 30 days from your hire/rehire date. You can opt out of the plan prior to any automatic enrollment effective date or after.
- Consider your life and AD&D insurance options. You’re automatically enrolled in basic life and basic accidental death and dismemberment (AD&D) insurance at no cost to you. You will also have the opportunity to buy additional coverage at a low rate when you are making all of your benefit elections.
Get started
- Go to BenefitFocus or download the BenefitFocus mobile app (Company ID: McCarthy).
- Follow the login instructions provided by your project administrator.
Username: your first name, the first initial of your last name and the last four digits of your SSN (Example: MichaelT1525)
*The standard login algorithm is first name (first 10 letters only) + last initial + last 4 digits of social security number. If your first name is more than 10 letters, please use only the first 10 letters. Example: Christopher becomes Christophe. If the first name contains a hyphen, it will need to be removed. Example: Mary-Lou becomes MaryLou. The username minimum is 6 characters so if you have a short name the system will use your first name + the first 2 letters of your last name. Example: John Smith becomes JohnSm.
Password: Your password is your Date of Birth (DOB) in the following order (01Jan1970). Once you enter, you will be prompted to change your password.
- Select the benefits you want to enroll in and upload your dependent verification documents for each dependent.
If No Action is Taken
If no action is taken by your 30-day deadline, you’ll be automatically enrolled in the Cigna minimum value plan and you will not be able to cancel it unless you experience a Life Event (marriage, divorce, birth, adoption). Generally, your default coverages will include basic life insurance, basic accidental death and dismemberment (AD&D), and the Employee Assistance Program (EAP).
