Open Enrollment Oct. 28 - Nov. 11


  • We have added a new Benefit Service Center to help you with Open Enrollment and benefit questions throughout the year. You can call 855-714-2818 to get assistance from 7 a.m. to 9 p.m. CST (Special Saturday hours during Open Enrollment from 7 a.m. – 2 p.m. CST).
  • To review your current benefits or make changes, log on to BenefitFocus.
  • No premium increases to medical, dental, or vision. If you keep the same coverage, the amount you pay per paycheck will not change.
  • New for 2022: You can now increase your own life insurance up to $100,000 and add life insurance for your spouse/domestic partner and child(ren) – if you are a new hire, make sure to go into both your new hire and open enrollment form to see these options
  • Additional treatment support through Livongo for pre-diabetes, hypertension and weight management
  • New program through Cigna to help navigate medical services, prescription services and billing for when you have a serious health event

Download the SuccessFactors mobile app from your phone’s App Store to access personal information:

  • Update your contact information
  • Access your payroll and benefit information
  • Complete your project history so McCarthy can make decisions about future assignments
  • Download the SuccessFactors app from your app store. Log in on October 25 using your employee number as your User ID and the last four digits of your social security number with build$ as your password (####build$).

Get Online Information or Free Personal Help with Benefits

construction workerEmployees may visit the McCarthy Virtual Benefit Fair to learn more about benefit options and for help making informed benefits decisions. The Virtual Benefit Fair allows employees to download all available plan documents for each benefit, as well as visit “booths” on:

  • Medical plans and resources
  • Dental and vision
  • Wellness
  • Life insurance
  • Voluntary benefits
  • Retirement and financial wellness

Benefits Eligibility

construction workerCraft professionals are eligible to enroll or make changes to their existing benefits during the following:

After you have completed thirty (30) days of continuous employment; new hires/rehires have thirty (30) days from their eligibility date to enroll in benefits. While your eligibility date is after thirty (30) days of continuous employment, you may begin enrolling in benefits as early as one week after your date of hire.

Project Administrators will provide new hires/rehires with a new hire packet which includes a summary of benefits and instructions on enrolling in benefits through the BenefitFocus website or mobile application. As employees near their eligibility date, the Project Administrator will provide additional benefits information.

Please note — if no action is taken, new hires/rehires are automatically enrolled in the Cigna Minimum Value Plan and you will not be able to cancel it unless you experience a qualifying life event or until the annual open enrollment period.

Thirty (30) days from a qualifying life event, such as marriage/divorce and the birth/adoption of a child. Contact the Benefits team if you have additional questions on what qualifies as a life event.

Enrolling in 401(k)

construction workerNew hires and rehires are automatically enrolled into McCarthy’s 401(k) plan at a six percent (6%) contribution and will begin within 4 to 6 weeks of continuous employment.

If you wish to reduce your contribution or opt-out, you must contact Principal directly by visiting their website at www.principal.com or by calling 800-547-7754.

Unlike other benefits, employees may change their 401(k) contribution amounts at any time. Changes can be made online at www.principal.com or by calling 800-547-7754.

After You Enroll in Benefits

construction workerOnce you have enrolled in benefits, allow three (3) business days for you and your dependents to appear active in BenefitFocus. This does not impact the effective date of your benefits. If you have not already, upload your dependent enrollment documents within thirty (30) days of enrolling in benefits.

Within two (2) weeks of your enrollment date, you will receive your medical and dental insurance cards from Cigna and your vision insurance card from VSP.

To request additional or replacement insurance cards, contact the vendor directly.
