McCarthy Holdings, Inc. Publishes Updated Greenhouse Gas Emissions Report
The report provides a detailed view of the firm’s carbon footprint across its operations and those of its subsidiaries using 2024 data, advancing transparent impact reporting for clients and communities.
McCarthy Holdings, Inc. (“McCarthy”), one of America’s premier construction firms and largest 100 percent employee-owned companies, recently published its updated Greenhouse Gas (GHG) Emissions Report. The report provides a detailed view of the firm’s carbon footprint across its operations and those of its subsidiaries using 2024 data. The report includes Scope 1, Scope 2 and key categories of Scope 3 emissions. Scopes 1 and 2 have been third-party audited and awarded limited assurance.
The McCarthy Greenhouse Gas Emissions Report was developed in partnership with Gravity, a leading enterprise carbon accounting and energy management platform dedicated to making it easier for companies to move beyond emissions reporting to actionable cost-saving solutions and impact.
“McCarthy is one of America’s largest construction companies, but at heart we are a community builder, strengthening our local communities for not only today but future generations,” said Ian Pope, senior director, sustainability at McCarthy. “In publishing our updated report, we looked across more than 300 jobsites, offices and supply chain activities, to identify where emissions occurred and evaluate opportunities to reduce them. As an employee-owned company, this important effort is in line with our core values and provides our teams with the practical data necessary to meet regulatory requirements, while supporting our clients and the communities we serve.”
McCarthy’s commitment to sustainability revolves around three priorities: Impact, People and Energy. In addition to measurement and reporting, the firm’s sustainability approach extends to embedding responsible practices across a wide variety of areas, including PV module recycling on renewable energy projects, biodiversity, responsible fuel management, the use of digital tools and artificial intelligence to support smarter project decisions, and more.
By pairing detailed emissions data with on-the-ground efforts, McCarthy aims to:
- Assist clients in achieving their own sustainability and supply chain expectations
- Prepare for evolving state and federal climate and impact reporting regulations
- Support McCarthy employee-owners, craft workforce and trade partners in identifying practical ways to reduce emissions, conserve energy and minimize waste on the projects they deliver every day
