    Named regional president in January 2018, Mike reports directly to McCarthy President and COO Scott Wittkop. Mike formerly served as Vice President and Chief Operating Officer at Castle Contracting for more than 16 years. During his tenure as COO of Castle, he was responsible for all field and office operations as well as the business development and estimating functions. Under his leadership, Castle has grown to a highly successful business with over 200 employees. After the McCarthy acquisition of Castle in late 2014, Mike became Executive Vice President and a member of the McCarthy Executive Committee. He is also a member of the Board of Directors. Prior to his relocation to California, Mike was also associated with the ACE Mentor Program of St. Louis, AGC of Missouri, Eastern Missouri Laborers and the Flags of Valor organization.

    John McRitchie oversees McCarthy’s Commercial Services and Education Services Business Units in Southern California. This work includes office, airport/transportation, entertainment, water/wastewater, solar, industrial and correctional facilities, as well as K-12 education, community college and higher education throughout the region.

    John is focused on providing our clients and partners with skilled, collaborative teams who understand and address their needs. He brings extensive experience in technically complex projects, proven design phase and construction expertise, and commitment to an integrated approach to help deliver projects throughout the region. With nearly 25 years of experience in design integration and construction, he is a Leadership in Energy & Environmental Design (LEED) Accredited Professional by the U.S. Green Building Council (USGBC). In addition, John is actively involved in the community, supporting local charities such as CHOC, Ronald McDonald House, and Taller San Jose, a non-profit providing construction career training to disadvantaged youth.

    As vice president, Sarah Carr is focused on building strong relationships with clients and industry partners in the Southern California education market. Sarah brings more than two decades of field and operations experience to her role, having held a variety of positions including vice president operations, project manager, assistant project manager, senior project engineer and project engineer. Over the course of her career, she has played a key role in more than $1 billion in work in Southern California, including the $615 million Hollywood & Highland Entertainment Retail Complex and $238 million Huntington Beach Union High School District modernization and expansion. Committed to helping other women in the construction industry develop and succeed, Sarah was co-founder of Women in Construction Operations (WiOPS) in 2013 and currently sits on the organization’s board of directors. She also serves on the national committee for the McCarthy Partnership for Women employee resource group. A Designated Design-Build Professional and LEED AP BD+C with the U.S. Green Building Council, Sarah is a board member for the Associated General Contractors of California and is also active with the Coalition for Adequate School Housing and the Design-Build Institute of America.

    Alan Carroll is an Executive Vice President for the firm’s Southern California Division, overseeing McCarthy’s Parking Structure Business Unit in the region. Under his guidance, McCarthy has become the leading parking structure builder in the state, delivering parking solutions for healthcare, commercial, education and government clients.

    With nearly 40 years of construction industry experience, Al has spent more than 26 of these with McCarthy, beginning his career as a Preconstruction Director and moving up to his current position. An expert in both traditional general contracting and design-build project delivery, he understands the unique challenges of parking construction projects and brings this expertise to bear on every project.

    In addition to his role with McCarthy, Al is a certified member of the Design-Build Institute of America.

    As Senior Vice President of Healthcare Services in Southern California, Patrick Peterson oversees all McCarthy healthcare business operations throughout the region. He brings more than 25 years of experience in construction to this role, overseeing a variety of notable healthcare projects including Arrowhead Regional Medical Center, Torrance Memorial Medical Center and St. Jude Medical Center during his career. An expert in working efficiently with the California’s Office of Statewide Health Planning and Development, Patrick is committed to collaborating closely with all project team members to deliver an exceptional experience for clients, caregivers, patients and communities.

    Patrick is a Leadership in Energy & Environmental Design accredited professional by the U.S. Green Building Council (USGBC).

    Jim Madrid has more than 31 years of operations and business development experience for the construction industry including management for industrial, transportation, commercial, advanced technology, life sciences and energy projects. In his role as executive vice president, he is responsible for developing and maintaining relationships with clients and partners in McCarthy's Southern California Division with a focus on the commercial group for the Newport Beach office. McCarthy's commercial group delivers work in the transportation, water/wastewater, hospitality, correctional and government markets, as well as commercial building opportunities.

    Jim is an active member of the Coalition of Adequate School Housing (CASH), CMAA and the International Society for Pharmaceutical Engineering (ISPE).

    Shaun Sleeth is responsible for developing and maintaining exceptional client and partner relations and generating new healthcare building opportunities for McCarthy in Southern California. In his 12 years with McCarthy, Shaun has managed large, high profile construction projects including the St. Joseph Hospital Patient Care Center, the Mission Hospital Patient Care Tower and the St. Jude Medical Center Northwest Tower; Central Plant, among others.

    Shaun brings practical field experience to his current role, helping him to better listen and understand the unique needs of healthcare clients. In addition, his experience with a variety of project delivery methods including design-build and integrated project delivery enables him to guide clients considering alternatives to traditional design-bid-build delivery in California.

    He is active in helping lead McCarthy's incorporation of Lean practices into the firm's processes. He serves on the board for the Lean Construction Institute, Los Angeles Community of Practice.
