    Alec Banta serves as the Senior Vice President and Business Unit Leader of the McCarthy Northern Pacific Region’s San Jose office. He oversees the progress of client projects and team operations to thoroughly integrate McCarthy’s various departments, including preconstruction, design management, scheduling, accounting, safety, quality control, and risk management to ensure immediate and long-term success for all key stakeholders over a project’s lifetime.

    With more than 17 years of industry experience, Alec brings extensive expertise and executive-level oversight to the McCarthy project teams and clients as he continues to demonstrate outstanding leadership and a vast knowledge of project process. Keen on assembling high-performing teams with complimentary skillsets and can-do attitudes, he has guided various McCarthy clients across verticals like life sciences and technology, higher education, parking, and retail, overcoming challenges and delivering projects that exceed client expectations.  

    Since joining McCarthy in 2005, Alec has worked in a variety of highly technical market sectors and has supported over $2 billion dollars of project work, most notably the Westfield Valley Fair Mall Expansion in San Jose that topped the San Jose Construction Projects List.

    Kevin McKay is a Vice President Operations out of McCarthy’s Northern Pacific region. He is responsible for executing project operations and integrating various elements of a project’s life cycle – from preconstruction, design, management, scheduling, accounting, safety, quality control, contracts and risk management – to ensure a successful client outcome.

    After spending the last 14 years at McCarthy, Kevin has become known for keeping himself out of the spotlight, so that he can bring the project, the project team, client and everyone else into it to ensure a job is done efficiently and safely. His deep commitments to carrying out his client and trade partner needs and ability to lead with collaboration and support only begin to touch the surface as to why he’s grown into such a trusted team member at the company.

    Kevin has supported more than $1.2 billion worth of healthcare projects that are reinvigorating the future of medicine and improving the quality of care at facilities for local communities in the greater Northern California area.

    Nick Sandersfeld is responsible for pursuing projects and meeting the evolving needs of clients in the greater San Jose area, with a focus on industrial, laboratory, corporate office, parking structure, educational and government facilities. He brings more than a decade of business development and marketing experience in the Santa Clara area construction industry to his role as director of business development at McCarthy. In addition to his responsibilities at McCarthy, Nick is actively involved in NAIOP, CoreNet Global, Urban Land Institute, RECON, SPUR and non-profit organizations such as the Boy Scouts of America and Rebuilding Together.

  • Shaun Sleeth

    Shaun Sleeth

    Shaun Sleeth is responsible for overseeing all McCarthy operations in the Northern Pacific Region. He has been with McCarthy his entire career, serving in a number of field and leadership positions before assuming his current role.

    After graduating in 2004 with a Bachelor of Science in construction management from California Polytechnic State University, San Luis Obispo, Shaun joined McCarthy’s Southern California Region, serving as a project engineer and project manager. He moved into the role of quality director, earning an “Excellence in Teaming” award from the Design-Build Institute of America (DBIA) for the St. Jude Medical Center Northwest Tower. In 2015 he served as business development director for the firm’s healthcare market in Southern California, and prior to his current role, he served as executive vice president, overseeing McCarthy’s operations throughout the California Central Valley and north into Oregon.

    By leveraging his knowledge of local and national construction markets, commitment to Lean principles and progressive delivery methods, along with his proven field experience, Shaun is driven to lead teams that help McCarthy’s Northern Pacific clients build impactful projects that shape the landscape, support the local community, and achieve their goals.
