    As President for McCarthy's Central Region, John oversees McCarthy operations in 29 states east of the Rockies. With nearly 25 years of experience in the construction industry, he worked his way up at McCarthy from assistant project superintendent to project superintendent, project manager, project director and business unit leader prior to assuming his current role. John is a professional mechanical engineer and also holds a Healthcare Construction Certificate from the American Society for Healthcare Engineering. John has a Bachelor of Science in mechanical engineering from Purdue University and an M.B.A. from Washington University in St. Louis.

    As Executive Vice President, Bob Kohlburn has worked continuously on industrial construction projects for the last 35 years. In 2001, Bob joined McCarthy as senior project manager and was promoted to vice president of operations in 2005. In 2016 he became executive vice president, leading the firm's Industrial market with a vigilant focus on safety, client-focused delivery, and operational excellence. Under Bob’s leadership, he has led all phases of the construction process to maintain efficient production operations while meeting McCarthy standards and objectives. His experience ranges from power, process, refinery and renewables project work for Monsanto, Ethyl Petroleum, Conoco Phillips, Shell, BP, NRG, Center Ethanol, First Solar and Ameren.

    As Sr. Vice President of Operations, Ryan leads all commercial, advanced technology and manufacturing and local education work for McCarthy's Central Region. With almost 20 years of experience in the construction industry, he oversees project performance throughout the life cycle of a job, focusing on creating an exceptional client experience. Ryan began his career at McCarthy as a project superintendent, was promoted to project manager, then shifted into a role as director of business development and then vice president before assuming his current position. Ryan serves on the board of FamilyForward, a St. Louis-based charity fighting child abuse and neglect. He holds a bachelor of science in mechanical engineering from Southern Illinois University Edwardsville and was named to the St. Louis Business Journal’s 40 Under 40 class of 2015. In 2017 he was included on Building Design + Construction’s 40 Under 40 list.

    As Sr. Vice President of Operations for McCarthy's Central Region, Doug oversees all healthcare and out-of-town education work. He monitors project performance throughout the lifecycle of a job with a continual focus on client satisfaction. With more than 26 years of experience in the construction industry, he has spent the majority of his career working to develop strong team relationships on complex projects. He began his McCarthy career as a project engineer, also holding positions as a field superintendent, project manager, senior project manager, project director and vice president before assuming his current role. Doug has participated in more than $3 billion of completed construction projects across America. He holds a bachelor of science in civil engineering from the University of Illinois.

    Ryan Molen specializes in client solutions in the Advanced Technology and Manufacturing sector. He understands complex projects require collaboration and innovation that only comes from the earliest possible involvement of all key stakeholders. Ryan is a 25-year construction professional experienced in the design and construction of laboratory and manufacturing facilities for private and public clients as well as federal clients, including Department of Energy, General Services Administration and Department of Veterans Affairs. Among his licenses and certificates are LEED AP BD+C and OSHA’s 30-Hour Construction Safety & Health. Ryan also is a member of Associated General Contractors of America and the Construction Management Association of America.

    Alex Whiteside is responsible for establishing and maintaining strong relationships with new and existing commercial and education partners in McCarthy’s Central Region. He worked previously as a construction development manager, project manager and project engineer and has done volunteer work with Big Brothers/Big Sisters of America in the St. Louis region.

    Brian Timmer has more than two decades of experience in construction, with nearly 15 of those focused specifically in industrial construction. Working in all facets of our business, from estimating to project management, Brian brings this well-rounded background to his role as director of business development in the industrial market and McCarthy’s national energy strategy focusing on renewables and generations. He is a Certified Professional Constructor and actively participates in the Associated General Contractors of America, Council of Owners and Construction Associates (COCA), St. Louis Council of Construction Consumers (SLCCC), Construction Industry Institute (CII) and the St. Louis Chapter of Make-A-Wish.

    Rowena Amelung has served in key project management, quality and business development roles at McCarthy since 2007. Working closely with clients such as Boeing, General Motors and Miller Coors, she has expertise in heavy industrial and manufacturing markets and understands their unique challenges and the solutions needed to deliver project excellence. Rowena holds multiple certifications and licenses including Construction Quality Management Certification (CQMC - U.S. Army Corps of Engineers), Certified Welding Inspector (CWI - American Welding Society) and OSHA-30 Construction Safety & Health. She is an active member of Commercial Real Estate Women (CREW), St. Louis Council of Construction Consumers (SLCCC), Hawthorn Foundation and serves as a national committee member for the McCarthy Partnership for Women.

    Josh Gaghen helps manage client relationships within McCarthy's Federal business unit. He also helps integrate design partners on Federal design-build projects. Based in St. Louis, his focus includes the Department of Defense, Department of Veterans Affairs, General Services Administration and other Federal Agencies. Josh brings a variety of experience to his role including serving as a Civil Engineering Officer in the U.S. Air Force before working as an engineer in the private sector for nearly a decade.

    An active member of the Society of American Military Engineers (SAME), Josh serves as the college outreach chair for SAME, Scott Field Post and as treasurer for the Air Force Academy Association of Graduates, Gateway Chapter.
