    As President for McCarthy's Central Region, John oversees McCarthy operations in 29 states east of the Rockies. With nearly 25 years of experience in the construction industry, he worked his way up at McCarthy from assistant project superintendent to project superintendent, project manager, project director and business unit leader prior to assuming his current role. John is a professional mechanical engineer and also holds a Healthcare Construction Certificate from the American Society for Healthcare Engineering. John has a Bachelor of Science in mechanical engineering from Purdue University and an M.B.A. from Washington University in St. Louis.

    As Vice President, Ryan Sawall oversees McCarthy’s work for the Omaha and Kansas City offices, as well as leads business development and client service efforts in the western portion of the McCarthy Central Region. With more than a decade of McCarthy experience, he began as a project engineer, moving up to project superintendent, project manager and project director prior to assuming his current role.

    Along with being licensed as a Professional Mechanical Engineer, Ryan is LEED AP BD+C certified through the U.S. Green Building Council and also holds a certification as a Certified Healthcare Constructor (CHC) through the National Hospital Association. He is a former board member for the Nebraska Society of Healthcare Engineers. A strong local community supporter, he is passionate about introducing young adults to possible construction careers and assisting local, small and diverse construction companies as they grow in the industry.

    Amy Thompson is Director of Business Development for McCarthy’s Central Region based in Omaha, Neb. In this role, she is responsible for developing new and maintaining existing client and partner relationships in Nebraska and western Iowa.

    Amy began her career in advertising and marketing in the finance and tech industries, moving on to a client service role in the AEC industry. She has more than 15 years of experience working with contractors and designers, bringing a strong understanding of the complete design and construction process. Most recently, she spent seven years at Leo A Daly in Omaha focused on healthcare business development, and four years at DLR Group, focused on national sports business development.

    In 2016 Amy was chosen for Building Design & Construction’s 40 under 40 Award, honoring top professionals in the industry. She is active in the community, serving on the Aksarben Floor Committee and as the A4LE Membership Chairperson. She has previously served as CASA Sarpy Campaign Chair for Little CASA Su CASA for two years and on several local boards, including the Nebraska Society of Healthcare Engineers and DBIA in Omaha. Amy also founded an AEC networking group called the Omaha Business Development Friday Afternoon Club, a formal network of AEC professionals and owners.
