The project was completed on a tight schedule, on a small site without disruption of an active refinery, despite record wet weather.

This project upgraded and replaced multiple components on critical plant systems to provide a higher level of resiliency and redundancy. 

McCarthy and Sundt Construction Inc., were the joint venture general contractor for the Ocotillo Water Reclamation Facility (OWRF) expansion and process Improvement projects for the city of Chandler, Ariz.. 

The Orange County Water District Ground Water Replenishment System treats up to 100-million gallons of wastewater per day.

Through engineering and redesign, the team was able to reduce the plant’s estimated construction cost by about 30 percent compared to the original estimate.

UP05B is an expansion of a wastewater treatment facility with critical connections at its influent and effluent points to the existing 91st Avenue Wastewater Treatment Plant, which had to remain operable.

The new treatment plant produces a larger amount of high-quality water to the residents of the West Valley. 

McCarthy completed this design-build-operate plant project that processes 80 million gallons of water per day, enough for 400,000 homes in Phoenix.

The biggest success of this project was being able to meet the needs of three owners (City of Mesa, Town of Gilbert, and Town of Queen Creek) and the collaboration with two design engineers.
